back problems, slipped disc?

About a year ago I was involved in an accident. I was in a little toyota and I hit (my fault) a big *** ford explorer. about 2 months after the wreck I started to have bad back problems so about 8 months after the accidnet I decided to go see a chiropractor. I told the Doc that my pains were getting worse and worse and he x-rayed me, it turned out I had a slipped disc, a unusually straight neck, and mucle problems. He has worked on me since I had those x-rays 2 months ago, and if anything my problems are worse! I dont know what to do, my pain is so bad that I cant do anything when my back hurts, and im weary of taking painkillers, I just have a phobia about that I dont want to become addicted to them. I have been thinking about trying Marijuana but its illegal here and its expensive too and if I use that I could be called into a job interview at any time, I dont know what to do, so, what would you do?

  1. I would not go see a chiropractor, I would go to regular doctor. You need medical treatment for your pain, and pot will not help musculoskeletal injuries improve any.
  2. Slipped discs are extremely painful. Some will heal with physical therapy and time. Others will require surgery to correct. Work with your doctor, tell him/her about the pains and get a referral to a physical therapist. Chiropractors are not able to as much, because this is not an alignment problem. As for analgesics, you don't make any sense. Only a very small percentage of people who take pain killers become addicts. Marijuana is far more addictive, much worse for your health, and as you stated in your question, has more adverse consequences. Hope you feel better soon!
