How do eating a pineapple per day help with back problems?
I was told by a chiropractor to eat one pineapple per day and to stop eating shell fish. How doing either one will help with my back problems?

- I am not a doctor but I have had 4 herniated disks and I have never once heard of anything like that. I wouldn't think that eating or not eating certain foods would have any effect on your back.
- Do you really think that would help? Maybe it is time that you find a new chiropractor!
- it wont, either your chiropractor is an idiot or you are trying to get some kind of reaction from us, eating a pineapple a day will make your tongue fall off or explode, its way too acidic to be eaten in those amounts.
- A whole pineapple? Seems like a lot to me. Anyway, the acids in pineapple can soften up cartilage. This stuff is the padding between the bones in your spine. Shell fish may do the exact opposite. This really does not sound like an actual treatment. I've never heard of that. If you have a slipped or herniated disk in your back, eating pineapple probably won't help. Might tear up your stomach though. I recall something about pineapple extracts being injected directly into a herniated disk to dissolve the protrusion. But that was 20 years ago. Maybe you should get another Chiropractors opinion. Tell him the whole story. Maybe your current DC is not all that good. I've been to several Chiropractors that weren't that good, others were amazing.
- Some people can not eat pineapple but don't eat the whole pineapple. Don't eat the leaves and the outside of them.
