Back Disc Problems Treatment Questions

Treatment for disc problems and reversal of cervical lordosis.? Since I was a teen (I'm now 27), I've had unexplained back and neck pain, headaches, muscle tension, and spasms. About a year and a half ago, the doctors figured it out after an MRI. They said I had varying degrees of damage (none really serious, but all problematic) in four cervical discs with moderate reversal of cervical lordosis. It seems that the problem is congenital because my mother and both sisters have it to varying degrees. Physical therapy did not help significantly and was way too expensive for me to be able to do it long term. What are my options for the reversal of lordosis? I know that the discs can improve with physio, postural training, exercise, chiropractic, and other treatments, but I suspect that orthotics or surgery may be the only hope for the curvature problem. I ask that only medical professionals and those with direct experience with this problem respond.

Any treatment for low back pain/degenerated disc? My husband is 34. From the past two months or so, he has been suffering from intolerable low back pain which worsens when he lies down. Because of this, he has not been sleeping properly for the past two months. CT scans and MRI scans have been unable to pin point the exact problem. But they have located a dehydrated disc which was likely to pinch at the nerve and cause pain. He has undergone a spinal epidural too but did not get even an iota of relief. He has come back disappointed from three big hospitals. Now all that pain as well as pain killers and anti inflammatory drugs have given him a bad stomach. He also takes sleep medication but is unable to sleep for more than 45 minutes or an hour. Is there anybody else who has faced such problem and whose condition has improved after some particular treatment? Or any ayurvedic treatment? Please help! He had been to chennai apollo and met the said doctor Dr. Sajan Hegde. But they simply put him on pain killers and sent him back. He is having a very bad time because of all this pain.
Back Problems? I found out I have a disc problem (degenerative disc disease) in my back My doctor at the pain clinic said there is nothing they can do for me....no injection will help. He explained there is no known treatment at this time but he would call if they hear of something. I used to run almost everyday and now that is impossible...too painful...I want my life back!!
Does treatment of herniated disk and protruding disk need to consider scoliosis and subluxations in the back? I am writing on behalf of my wife. I am in the military and have trouble witht he doctors not doing a thorough job. My wife was diagnosed with scoliosis and the subluxations in her spine prior to going to the doctors on the post. They have not made those diagnoses, but they did find the herniated and protruding disk in her lower back. She just finsihed receiving 12 shots of cortizone in her back about a week ago, which appeaers to have little success. I believe the lack of a thorough screening may be causing the lack of successful treatment. I am not able to be there to assist with anything and she is forced to take care of the home while I am deployed to Iraq. We have multiple problems with finances as well and are attempting to try to get me back to the states to be able to provide care for my wife and acquire employment to compensate for support. Even with my added deployment pay, I cannot make full support payments because child support says I should pay based on my prior job.

Advice/experience re CT guided epidural treatment (back)? Shin splints (chronic bilateral tibial tenoperiostitis) and back disc prolapse L5/S1 with nerve root pain. Had the epidural yesterday and have been fine apart from initial nasty headache, but that has worn off - Went to a job interview today as I feel fine but should have been resting! Wondered if anyone would like to share their experience with this procedure. Have had two sessions of prednisolone in the past; first time worked well, second time zilch. Wondered if this current treatment worked as a permanent fix for anyone - if so required several sessions, once off, of it or was it ineffective completely? Have heard of a treatment where they cauterise the nerve - Does this also work? I know a lot of questions but am at the point of trying just about anything to fix the problem. Thank you for reading this far...if you have.
SEVERE back problems, please help!? My dad has REALLY bad back problems and I have asked a question like this earlier, but they're really bad, to the point where he cant walk, and has to go to bed because of how much pain he is in. He is only in his early 50s though. He says those back "treatments" such as patches won't help, he might go to surgery because it has been really bad lately and he doesnt know what to do. It's because of a damaged disc or something...IDK too much about this subject but his doctor said it was. It is mainly when he is standing up, and it is in his lower back. My mom is going on vacation this week and he is taking a week off of work to stay with house, I dont really know why but he wants to do even more housework...so anyway I need some quick things that might hold off the pain until my mom gets back in a few weeks, when he would be able to have the surgery. Also he is going to be home by himself and what happens if he cant move or cant get himself into bed, I really think he should get some more help. But he refuses so any suggestions from previous experiences.?
Has anyone had degenerative neck discs? What treatments can help? Can you get back to normal? My husband has a degenerative disc problem in his neck, giving him severe shoulder and arm pain for five weeks now. He's waiting to see a neurologist and wondering what help he can expect. Has anyone had a similar problem? Also could it have been triggered by a fall flat on his back a year ago? Any advice is much appreciated.

What is the best non invasive treatment for cervical disc ruptures/herniations? I just got back my MRI results and I was told that I had two cervical ruptures C4-C6. I have had pain in my neck, shoulder and arm (hallmark symptoms), however it has lessened over the past 4-5 weeks but not completely gone. Does anyone have experience with dealing with what I understand to be a very common problem? I have been working on better posture and using pain management medications (NSAID's and Tylenol).
I am facing disk slip problem from last 2 years. What is the best treatment for slipped disk? When i walk, bend or sit long time, i feel pain in back and right testis also.

I have under gone ozonucleolysis treatment for the cervic slipped disc at C5-C6 level. when will it recover? C5-C6 disc shows a large paracentral and lateral herniation causing foraminal stenosis compressing the exiting nerve roots. Mild indentation of the cord seen. After taking the ozonucleolysis treatment, does the herniated disc shrink immediately at the time of administration of the said medical procedure or the process is slow and gradual. what could be the time period for the herniated dis to set at its original place whether it is possible after such treatment. Further what are the precautions to be taken by me in future so as to avoid further injury and pain. what are the exercises to be followed making the neck muscles strong so that the prolapsed disc does not cause problems in future. Is total recovery possible in such case after taking ozonucleolysis treatment?
Anyone had inflammatory cervical disc problems? What were your symptoms and how was it treated? Did the treatment work? I'm having chronic inflammatory pain in throat and neck and just told I have arthritis in the front my cervical spine near the vocal chords. My ENT says GERDs may aggravate it and cause it to swell but it worsens after the slightest cold virus. It's debilitating and it's scaring me. My PC couldn't figure it out so he just told me it's autoimmune. Offered no treatment. I'm looking for real experience for this, not links. Thanks.
Is it okay to feed a sick dog Ensure Plus on a temporary basis since he is refusing to eat and drink much? The dog is 13.5 years old and is being treated with Clavamox and Rimadyl for a possible infection as well as a disc problem with his back. Initially he was unable to rise up from a sitting/lying position and his back end would fall down sometimes when walking. He was first given aspirin which caused him to have blood on his stool. The vet discontined this treatment and a second opinion unveiled the disc problem. Due to a possible cancer tumor which will be further investigated in 10 days, the vet decided to not use steriods to treat the disc problem at this time and instead use Rimadyl. After the stomach upset from the asprin the dog has not wanted to eat much and has drank minimal water. We wanted to keep him from lossing even more weight so we decided to administer Ensure Plus with a medicine dropper. He seems to be improving, but we wondered if this was okay to give him. He initially weighted 35 lbs and is now 32.5 lbs. We just started the Ensure Plus yesterday.
I have a disc prolapse L5/S1 and dehydration L4/5, should I see my Chiropractor still???? I would like your opinions please! I have been seeing a Chiropractor for three years now for L5/S1 prolapse with nerve pain left leg, and degenerated discs L5/S1 and L4/L5. It helps with the stiffness and pain, but I am wondering if it may have made my leg numbness worse - augh! Has anyone else got any advice on Chiropractic treatment with disc problems like this? What were your experiences? What did you do to find some relief from the sciatic pain?
Can you develop have sore knees from having a bad back? hello everyone, my problem is ive been off work for 3 months now with a slipped disc in my back, but i have learned that walking is the best treatment for me as it reduces the pain, without tablets.the past 2 weeks though i have gradually noticed my knees becoming very sore, especially when walking up stairs. is this a common problem, or is it likely it will just go away? its really starting to hurt now :(
Will Insurance Cover Treatment for Cervical Disc (Neck) Surgery? My husband has some very bad neck problems caused by degenerative disc disease. I think he has four bad discs in his neck. We are currently on Medicaid trhough disability, and we have been told that Medicaid will NOT cover therapy or surgery to fix his neck until significant nerve damage is present. The doctor has said this could be about a year from now. I am about to graduate from college with a bachelor's degree and hopefully get a job in finance. I was wondering, how do different types of employer-provided insurance (which he will hopefully have off from me soon, and it will cover pre-existing conditions because we have had Medicaid nonstop for so long) treat this? Is there any better chance for getting him therapy, surgery, and/or other treatments soon? Does anyone have direct experience with this either as a patient or someone who works with an insurance company?
Do most Doctor Address the actual cause of a herniated Disc? How can the Doc address the actual cause? by MRI? Or .... Is EMG useful also? But the major problem with these traditional treatments is that they can't fix or heal a herniated disc as they do not address the actual cause of the problem.
What type of activity/exercises should I do to strengthen my lower back? Around one year ago, I had a tear in the cartilage on my L5 disc. I had to quit school and was in bed for around 2 months. I went to physio therapy for around 3 months and I recieved treatments with ultrasound and electrodes. When the pain started to lessen I started a weight program in order to strengthen my back muscles again. I can't run, play squash, do anything too rigorous without my lower back starting to hurt. I would love to be able to do all of these activities but I have to stregthen my back in order to do so. I would really like to know whether there is anyone who have gone through similar problems, or can just recommend some sort of exercise/activity which can give me the freedom to do all of the activities which I so dearly miss? Also, my muscle on the side of my torso keeps on getting pulled, it can randomly happen when I am lifting weights or even bending over sideways...I believe that this might be contributing to my lower back pains and vice versa. Thank you!
Disc in the spine problems? Okay so I was recently in a car accident, I just went to an MRI this past Friday. I just go the report today, but it was an over the phone explanation, and they did say I have to go to the orthopedic but I just want to know how bad this is, and what exactly it means. They said on my lumbar spine it has a herniation and a protrusion, and they said on some other part not sure, if it is cervical or thoricic, but they said I have 3 swollen disc. How severe is that, what is the normal treatment, and what does it mean?
Can I run now after back issues? In March 2003, I was diagnosed with a herniated disk in my neck. After treatment and taking care of my neck I have had no problems/issues in years. In December 2008 I was diagnosed with a herniated disk in my lower back L4 L5 I think it was. I had 2 Epidural injections 4 months ago and the last 4 months I have been 100%. I dance 2-3 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time and I am very active with walking etc. I used to run, I miss running and I would like to start running again...slowly. I have done my research and know to take it slow and stretch before and after and work on strengthening muscles on my days off etc. Basically, do you recommend it or do I have a disk degeneration problem and it may not be a good idea. I am 35 in great shape but have been informed by my Dr. that I have a back of a 45 year old.
Is degenerative disc disease and arthritis the same thing? My husband was recently in a auto accident at work. They did a CT Scan of his head and neck. The doctor said that the CT Scan found that he has arthritis in his neck. After receiving the report ourselves to take to another doctor it reads: "There is minimal early degenerative disc disease with osteophyte formation predominatly at C5-6. " My husband never had a problem with his neck before the accident . Now he is in pain and it pops and crunches when he moves it. Are they the same thing? What treatments are there for it? He is going to see a Orthopaedic Specialist but not for another 3 weeks.
Bilateral disc herniation at L4-5 and L5-S1. Chronic Back pain while sitting, walking and lying down.? I have been suffering from low back pain for the past 2.5 years now. Initially, it started as small pain but gradually increased to a high level. The pain was mostly on the left side. In Dec 2006, I had an MRI taken which showed mild disc bulge at L4-5 on the right side and significant disc herniation at L5-S1 on the left side. The MRI also showed some disc dehydration at these two disc levels. For the past 2.5 years though, the pain used to vanish by 95% when I used to sit down. The pain was continuous while walking and standing at one point. But since 10 days, the pain has increased to such an extent that I am not even able to sit. The pain starts in the lower back, goes down the thigh and legs and sometimes a burning sensation in the legs. Also, the pain has started on the right side of the lower back which was not there earlier. I had another MRI taken recently in Oct 2008 and the report was not much different from the earlier one. The only difference was that now the disc herniation at L4-5 and L5-S1 has become bilateral now ( on both left and right sides ). I have been continuously undergoing physiotherapy for the past 2.5 years but there has not been a period where I was completely free from pain. I have also recently tried Ayurvedic therapy for 7 days continuously and there was no significant relief. I have heard about this spinal decompression technique which might be helpful for such cases of lower back. This would be the last resort before surgery. Can anyone tell me whether this really helps ? Are there any risks associated with it ? Also, is the treatment available in India ? I am ready to spend time, effort and money if it really helps. I have one year of time to go before marriage and I want to get rid of the pain before that. Sorry for having taken your time with a long history but thought to explain the problem in detail. Looking forward to some quick replies.
My daughter, 29 has cronic back pain. Epidural injections and other treatments have not relieved the pain.? Her orthopaedic surgon says her disc problem is unremarkable. The neuro surgeon has not found any problem. She can't sleep and the pain is always there.
Has anyone out there tried LCD Spinal Decompression Therapy for degenerative disc disease? How much did you pay for the treatments? How many treatments did you need to correct the problem? Did the pain return after you completed the treatment? Is it just a pain control treatment or does it actually correct the problem? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks for your answers in advance.
how expensive to do medical treatment in usa via trinidad? i have a disc problem in level 4,5,6 and a disc in my neck is touching the spinal cord so i wondered whats the cost for a medical opinion

My sinal injury makes my arms numb and pained. How do I get the best treatment to resolve this problem.? At my C6-7, there is a broad-based left parcentral disc protrusion deforming the thecal sac and compressing the left cervical cord. The disc protrusion extends into the left neural foramen and there is a left neural foraminal stenosis. There is a mild degree of central canal compromise at C6-7. 1.Do I have to have a surgery to cure this problem? 2.Does anyone have this kind of surgery? 3.Every thing is ok after the surgery? 1.How many of these exact surgeries have you performed so far? 2.Is this surgery a mature technology? 3.What is the surgery procedure? 4.What do you do to change the situation? 5.How long does the surgery take? 6.How long is the recovery period after surgery? 7.When I can go back to work? 8.Will my range of motion be limited? If so, how much? 9.If the surgery failed, what is the worst result? 10.Can I have your business card?
Do you think Disabled veterans need more help than the government is offering? I am a disabled veteran suffering from Barrets Eusphogus, Degenerative Disc Diseases, and vericose vein issues. Since June of 1992 I have been fighting to get help, get treatment (more than the what medicine do you want). I am only 30% disabled so I have to work as well, which I dont have a problem with. I recently also have Cellulitus, which stems from the vericose vein issues, and the barrets eusphogus is from the lack of treatment for GERD. They Veterans Administration has lost my medical records more times than I can remember. Yet nothing gets done about it. I should explain I am physical more than 30% disabled, the VA says I am only 30%, I can barely walk, stand or sit for long periods of time. As I got an answer that I should be blessed to be only at 30%, I felt I needed to explain its not by choice I am at 30% when the VA doctors tell me I should not be working, I have no choice as I have many bills to pay most of them medical bills, and the fact the VA makes us pay for our medication even if it is service connected.

Disc protrusion In L3-L4.. Need answers...? I have been diagnosed with a disc protrusion in the L3-L4 position. I have read alot on this but I still dont understand some things. Can this condition heal it's self? Or is this a problem I am stuck with forever? I have severe marked pain in both my back and left leg. I am worried that injections will not help me, Since I have had this injury for over a year, with no treatment. I guess my dr. didn't believe I had the pain until, I got real forceful and told them I wanted my back checked. So they did an MRI, and found the protrusion. I have an appointment with the pain dr. on the 30th to find out if I am a good canidate for injections. mostly I really need to know, can this injury heal it's self?
help please? i need 3 people to give me there opionion on this article this ian assignment and my test wants to get three opionions from 3 people plus the on i am going to write What Is Scoliosis? Scoliosis is a term doctors use to describe a lateral curve of the spine. Depending on the etiology (cause) of the scoliosis, there may be one or more curves involved. Types of Scoliosis There are two types of scoliosis: structural and functional. A structural scoliosis can be caused by disease, bony or muscular deformities, congenital deformities (those that are present at birth) or improper healing from injury or surgery. A functional scoliosis can occur as a result of injury, muscle spasm, spinal mal-alignment, or the body trying to compensate for spinal problems, such as a herniated disc. Individuals with these conditions tend to "create" a scoliosis as they are leaning to one side trying to find a position in which to relieve their pain. The curvature of a scoliosis can be mobile, or in more serious cases, can be fixed (unable to move). Cases of immobility are typically the result of injury or a disease, such as polio, that can result in multiple spinal bones fusing together. The most common type of scoliosis is idiopathic scoliosis. This is what doctors look for when they perform spinal screenings on school-age children. The term idiopathic means "of unknown cause." It begins as a functional scoliosis, but can become structural over time if it is not managed by a health care professional such as an orthopedist or a chiropractor. It is very important to catch scoliosis in childhood before it progresses as it can significantly worsen as the spine develops and the child grows. More About Idiopathic Scoliosis Between 60 and 80 percent of cases of idiopathic scoliosis occur in school-age girls, and are usually detected between the ages of 9 and 14. The condition may first be suspected when one shoulder appears higher than the other, when clothes do not hang straight, or when one hip seems more prominent. An initial complaint may be fatigue in the low or mid back after prolonged standing or sitting. Note that pain is a manifestation as time passes, as the ligaments of the spine endure prolonged strain. Of the 4 percent of children with detectable scoliosis, half will require treatment or continuing medical observation; the other half can be screened in school and simply monitored for significant progression. What Is the Outcome? The outcome depends on the site and severity of the curve and the age of onset of symptoms. Complications are related to the type of curve present. The greater the curve, the greater the likelihood of progression after skeletal maturity. A prompt referral to a chiropractor or an orthopedist is recommended in order to institute treatment to correct the deformity or to prevent further deformity. What Is the Treatment for Scoliosis? Chiropractic treatment for scoliosis utilizes specific adjustments to the involved areas of the spine. This is combined with therapies such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, or intersegmental traction, and postural exercise. The progression of the curve in the spine is monitored very closely to determine if more aggressive treatments are deemed necessary. Chiropractic treatments are designed to focus on the correction of the scoliosis and the prevention of complications. A large percentage of scoliosis patients find relief and correction for their scoliosis deformity through chiropractic care. If scoliosis is progressing rapidly or is severe, an immediate consultation with an orthopedist is necessary. The orthopedic specialist will review the condition to determine what treatment should be rendered. Treatment may include a brace fitted to the spine (called a Milwaukee brace), electrospinal stimulation, or spinal surgery. Being diagnosed with scoliosis, wearing a brace or cast, being hospitalized, or having surgery can greatly challenge a youngster's independence or self-image. The alternative, however, is living with a significant deformity. Counseling and support should also be major components in caring for children and teenagers with scoliosis. Treatment for Adults Treatment for scoliosis in adults is also relative to the type, cause, and severity of the condition. The effects from neglecting care can include spinal degeneration, nerve impingement, disc problems, and spinal fusion. Keep in mind that if a scoliosis condition goes uncorrected from childhood into adulthood, the chances for correction in adulthood are slim. Once into adulthood, the progression of the condition may be slowed or halted, and pain relief may be achieved; however, the condition is not completely correctable at this point. If the scoliosis is caused by muscle spasm or spinal bone misalignment, the scoliosis is very correctable. The treatment of scoliosis is completely dependent upon the cause. Early detection and prevention are the best possible treatments for scoliosis. Make sure your children are participating in spinal screenings performed at school. If spinal screenings are not performed at your child's school, call your health care provider or local doctor of chiropractic. A screening only takes a few minutes but can prevent years of pain.

bulging disc...? I recently started having horrible back pain along with my left leg going numb....i went to a chiropractor and found a bulging disc between my L4-L5 vertebra. After several treatment...and i mean several, my pain kept getting worse. My regular family doctor prescribes me Lortabs to help with the pain, but he's wanting to refer me to a Neurosurgeon or a Pain Managment Clinic. If anyone has been faced with this decision, or even if you have an input please share you're opinion with me...what would you do? If you face this problem how has it changed your life? For the record, the amount of pain I'm in alot of the time can't be described... My work doesn't help either with all the stuff i do (i work for fleetwood homes building houses) Thanks to all that answer
herniated disc and tennis? During Novemeber of last year, I had sever back pain and I have been diagnosed with a small right mediolateral disk protrusion at L5/S1 (aka herniated disc/slip disc). I spent six weeks in bed undergoing conservative treatment to avoid a surgical intervention. Since then, my pain has gone. I used to play tennis twice a week before this event. Is there a problem with my starting tennis again? Will this reignite the pain in my back? Some friends had suggest that I go for swimming but I prefer playing tennis. Can someone help?
L5 disc problem? I went to see a chiropractor 2 weeks ago after suffering with a very bad back for 11-12 weeks, (Doctor treating as acute muscle spasm). I have now been told that it's L5 S something and it's either prolapsed or heriated . I am waiting for a NHS, MRI scan and also a private MRI scan (see which ones comes first) I can't have any treatment until I have the results as the chiropractor needs to see if its treatable or operable. Any one had either treatments and have they worked, many thanks My concern is I'm in constant pain in my lower back but it's also affecting my sciatic nerve, tingling and numbness right down my right leg but recently started getting a throbbing toothache type pain in my right knee and hip. And also shooting pains from the base of my back that travells out like a firework.
How can I treat spinal stenosis and 3 bulging discs without surgery effectively? I tried chiropractors, physical therapy, epidurals, vax-D tracktion machine, electronic acupressure/acupuncture. Epidurals helped for a short while. Had one treatment in NY with electronic/acupressure/acpuncture, while visiting there which seemed to aleviate problem. The discs that are affected are L3,4,5. the nerve seems to put pressure on my bottom, so I have a difficult time sitting, unless I sit on a gel icepack. My lower back hurts if I do any bending. I also thought of doing Laser Spine surgery, but don't know of anyone that had it done. Please advise.
Urgent question about How to do Medical Coding with story problems!? Hey all, i need help with Medical Coding! My homework is to do story problems and assign 2 codes to them. code for CPT and code for ICD9. So the book says that CPT codes are for PROCEDURES & SERVICES It says that ICD9 codes are for DIAGNOSES. So, i was able to find some ICD9 codes but cannot find any CPT codes. If you can help me please do, i would really appreciate this. I will list two story problems with my book. The assignment says that i have to read the stories and understand which word is a diagnosis and which is the Procedure. (trust me it is not as easy as it sounds) So please help me!!!!!!! 1. Patient presented for follow up of COPD. At this time the patient is experiencing no significant cough, no sputum, no fever, and no respiratory distress. However, there is dyspnea only with excertion, which is accompanied by angina. A detailed examination was performed and the physician spent approximately 25 minutes with the patient. Chest is clear, no wheeze or rales. Chest xrays, frontal and lateral, were taken to determine status of COPD. No additional treatment is required at this time. So, according to my teacher this needs 2 CPT codes and 1 ICD9 code. 2) Patient was referred to me by his primary care physician, Dr. Pearson, because of severe back pain. Dr. Pearson feels he should have surgery, but the patient states the pain is relieved by regular chiropractic care and doesn't want to have back surgery. After a problem focused examination and a complete radiologic examination of the lumbosacral spine, including bending views, i consulted with Dr. Pearson and concluded the patient's degenerative disc disease is probably doing as well with a chiropractor as with orphopedic treatment. I did not recommend surgery at this time. So, this one also needs 2 CPT codes and 1 ICD9 code. If anyone knows how to do this, please help me out because this is the first time we are doing story problems and the material was not explained due to a test we took that same day. This is over my head, i do not know how to do this, and i could find some codes for ICD9 but nothing for CPT. Thank you all in advance.
Has anyone ever dealt with a dachshund with a disc problem? I had to rush my dachshund to the vet yesterday after she started to drag her back legs. I know the first 24 hours are very important as far as getting treatment. The vet put her on Metacam, a non-steroidal anti-imflammatory drug, and recommended crate rest, and towel walking when I do take her out. She's alot better this morning, and is at least using her back legs some what. Has anyone else gone through this? I'm hoping she recovers on her own without surgery, and just wanted to hear from others that have been through this to get their input. Thanks I have always picked her up properly, and never let her jump up or down, but that's very good advice to pass along! The vet said that if she responds by this morning, that was a good sign, which she is alot better as far as movement.

Successful treatment/surgery after discogram? My husband is considering a discogram, but only wants to do it if the results lead to successful surgery. For anyone who has had a discogram, followed by a treatment of any sort, was it successful? His problem is specifically in his lower back. They are talking about artificial disc replacement as a possibility. Comments and advice welcome.
Will excercise help a bulging lumbar disc? I have a slightly protruding disc and wish to find alternative treatments. I want to resume excercise but have received vague medical advise "do it if you feel you can". What can help? I want to play soccer and would like to hear how other people recovered from similar problems.
3 to 4MM right paracentral disc bulge at L5- S1 encroaching upon right neuroforamen exacerbated by disc desicc ation and 1 to 2 mm posterior disc bulge at L4-L5 with mild desiccation. what is the treatment for these problems?
herniated disc at L5-S1, sleep on the stomach after two ESIs? I've had 2 epidural steroid injections so far for a herniated disc at L5-S1. After the 2nd injection, I felt GREAT for about 3 weeks. Though I am getting facial hair and having irregular menstrual cycle because of the injections. Two days ago, I slept on my stomach for about 1 hr; I woke up in so much pain! The pain totally came back. I can't believe that sleeping on my stomach would have such a crazy impact. The problem totally came back I am frustrated. I had numerous physical therapy sessions, icing, stretching, ESIs, anti-inflammatory (arthotec), oxcycodone, flexeril, now. It's been 4 months of treatments, etc.... I am swimming, walking, too... Any one has other suggestions? Should I go to a chiropractor? I am getting all sorts of side effects from the anti-inflammatory and oxcycodone.... : ~( The only thing that agrees with me is the muscle relaxer... Should I go to a chiropractor? I want to avoid a surgery. Thanks in advance!

lower back injury? i had a car crash in May. A couple of days later i was crippled with pain in my lower spine. i couldnt sit, stand etc. My husband took me to hospital and they said i had inflamation around the disc. Gave me pain killers and told me to see my doctor in 3 days time (which i did). he also confirmed that my disc was swollen and that i had the siatic nerve trapped as the pain was shooting down my legs into my feet. He refered me to physio where i am undergoing Traction treatment and heat treatment etc. I feel like i'm being crusified with pain. The embarresing thing is that i am finding it hard to control my bladder and have leakage before i manage to get to the toilet as my legs and knees are that sore if i walk that i cant get to the toilet quick enough. I had to see an independant doctor and he kept on and on at me about why i havent had one of those M.R.I scans. I told him that i dont know. all i know is that the physio said i have problems with my L5 disc. Nobody is really explaining anything to me about what is going on. All they said is that i will be off work for at least 6 months if not longer. Why havent i been given one of those scans? When i ask the doctor, he said its because they know what the problem is without one. Why cant they just tell me whats going on. How can they tell just like that what is wrong?
